Well, every Grant County High School Football team has been covered and this last one was arguably the most difficult week so far of the project.
This week I focused in on the Oak Hill Golden Eagles Football team with head coach Bud Ozmun. Due to scheduling conflicts and Coach Ozmun's kids being sick, it wasn't until Thursday morning when the interview took place. This was definitely a scary thing for me because if I don't get the guest interview, then where is the meat of the show? The interview portion is roughly 20 minutes of the 30 minute program. Luckily, the interview happened and after a late night of editing, the show aired like normal at noon on Friday, October 7th.
A big switch in this week's show is the lineup as well. This happened after my meeting with Dr. Perry as we wanted to make sure that local sports was focused for the entirety of the show.
Here's a look at the old order of segments:
1. "The Starting Lineup" Segment - Primarily National Sports News with Jeremy Sharp
2. Guest Interview Part 1
3. Guest Interview Part 2
After his meeting, here is the new order:
1. 2-minute local sports newscast setting people up for Grant County Sports - name still to be determined for segment
2. Guest Interview Part 1
3. Guest Interview Part 2
4. "The Starting Lineup" Segment - now that this is at the end, a new name is going to have to be developed.
When looking at this change, you can see how local Grant County sports stays the #1 priority throughout the show. In the old order, the show says it is local but then starts with national. I liked this recommendation from Perry and instantly put it in action.
5 weeks are in the book - next week we start repeating guests...I wonder who the lucky coach will be?
