Another week of "The Windup" is in the books and I'm starting to get comfortable with how things are moving at this point. I'm very confident at this point as this is something I'm really enjoying but I'm also making sure that I don't get too comfortable.
If you haven't had a chance to know what things I'm working on...here's a list of some of the things I'm doing each week:
1. Scheduling a Phone Interview with Local Sports Contact
2. Creating Questions for Interview
3. Recording Interview - Editing into 2 segments for Show
4. Write, record, and edit "The Starting Lineup" segment that starts the show at this point.
5. Write, record, and edit the "Fortress Sports Update" each week to keep the community in the know about high school sporting events.
That's just a small taste of the things I'm working on. The bottom line is that I'm spending a lot of time in the talk studio each week.
One of the main things I'm learning is the idea of being a radio producer. I'm in charge of all this and I'm wanting to make sure I'm airing a high-quality show that listeners enjoy and want to tune in to each and every week. If at the end of the semester one person has enjoyed the show or gained some understanding of their team, then to me...that's a successful show.
I really didn't have any major difficulties this week other than just the weekly time balance battle. As much as I would like to say I have a handle on things by the end of the semester, I know it will be a struggle.
Hours Update:
Total Hours This Week: 10 hours
Total Hours This Semester: 38 hours
Remaining This Semester: 97 hours
So, I'm about a third of the way through...and with 3 weeks in, I think I'm ok at this point.
