Senior Project Week 1 Reflection

I can't believe it...but I've done it!  I've written, produced, edited, and aired my first sports radio talk show!  The emotions that are traveling through me after the show had aired were all over the place.  Excitement...relief....amazement...humble...thankful...and giving God all the glory.

My interview guest for this first week was Eastbrook High School's Varsity Football Coach Jeff Adamson.  Since I am a 2008 graduate of the school, I decided to start with my home school.  Mr. Adamson was very willing to do the interview and we had a great conversation about high school football and other sports topics.  I was surprised at how simple it was to get the interview set up and how Mr. Adamson didn't ask very many questions about who I was, what I was doing, and his part in it.  I would like to say that is because I explained myself very well.  That credit goes back to my summer internship with Star 88.3.  I learned a lot about professional relationships during that internship and am grateful to that experience.

There wasn't much difficulty in this first week.  All of the interview components went very smooth.  Recording the opening segment with Jeremy Sharp was quite easy as well.  There wasn't much scheduling difficulty at all this first week and I am extremely grateful for that.  While I would like that to happen each and every week, I know that there are going to be some weeks that will give me a little more stress than others.  I also think that all of my previous experience in my radio classes at IWU helped significantly in the production of this show.  I wasn't coming in blind to doing this and this show really is a culmination of all my experience and classes at IWU.  This first week really couldn't have gone any better.

Here's an update on my hour count:
Senior Project Hours This Week: 8 hours (primarily spent in the WIWU-FM studios - writing, editing, producing, airing, etc.)
Total for the Semester: 18 hours

I don't think I'm too concerned yet about my hours since I'm going to be doing this for 3 full months but they may not add up quickly so this will be something I continue to watch.
