Interview Questions for Mississinewa's Mark McFarland

We are well on our way to our season 2 debut and our guest this week is Mississinewa Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Mark McFarland.  Here are some of the potential questions he and I will be discussing in this week's show airing Friday, January 13th at 12:30 p.m. on 94.3 the Fortress.  Make sure you mark it down on your calendar and tune in to hear what McFarland has to say about his 2-8 Indians team!

“The Windup:” Interview Questions for Mississinewa Indians Varsity Basketball Coach Mark McFarland
I.                    This Season/Last Game
a.       It’s your first season as the Indians head coach and your team is only 2-8.  Can you shed some light on the season at this point and how you think your team is doing?
b.      As that first year coach, what were some things that you brought to the Indians program that you had to implement?
c.       The team currently is on a 3-game losing streak with the past 2 games losing by double digits at home.  We’ve talked about the entire season…let’s just focus on the past 3.  What is keeping your team from posting wins over losses?
d.      I saw a stat in the Chronicle-Tribune this week saying your opponents have made 82 more free throws than the Indians.  How have teams been able to get to the line so much on your team?  And better yet, how can the Indians fix this?
e.      There have been some bright spots.  Your team finished second in the always tough Grant 4 tournament back in the end of December.  How big of a day was it for your team to be oh so close in the tournament after a tough start to the season?
f.        I’ve also read that this team is one of the youngest in recent Mississinewa history.  As a coach, how can you help these young players perform well during the week so that they play well on game nights?
II.                  Upcoming Games
a.       On Friday night, your team plays a Blackford Bruin team that is only 1-7 overall.  What is the game plan to hold home court in Gas City Friday night?
b.      I’m sure you are aware how the Mississinewa/Marion rivalry is one of the best…if not the best…in Grant County.  Players and coaches are also well aware of this.  How does this affect your team as you prepare for the Giants?
c.       What are some of keys for your team to go on the road and defeat a tough Giant team?
d.      What does the future look like for the Mississinewa Indians boys basketball team this season and in years to come?
III.                Other County Schools
a.       Madison-Grant is all alone at the top of the Central Indiana Conference…the league in which the Indians play at 3-0.  You’ve seen the team twice already splitting the matches.  What makes Madison-Grant such a tough team to handle?
b.      We’re about halfway through the CIC schedule and it appears that Madison-Grant and Alexandria are the teams to beat.  What are your thoughts on the conference so far this season?
IV.                NBA/College Basketball
a.       The Indiana Hoosiers Men’s basketball team is now ranked inside the top 10 in college basketball this season after a 15-1 start.  What have you seen Tom Crean do with the Hoosiers to bring them back to national recognition?
b.      With the Hoosiers success and the Colts struggles this fall and winter, how would you describe the battle between football and basketball in the state?  At the start of 2012, is Indiana a football or basketball state?
