Interview Questions for Madison-Grant's John Irwin

The Madison-Grant Argylls are one of the top teams this season in the Central Indiana Conference under first year head coach John Irwin.  You can find some of the topics that Coach Irwin and I may discuss on this week's show.  Check out the questions and mark it down on your calendar for the show...this Friday, January 20th at 12:30 p.m. for your chance to hear the interview!

“The Windup:” Week 2 Interview Questions
I.                    This Season So Far
a.       As a first year head coach for the Argylls, what kind of mentality were you trying to instill into the kids and the program?
b.      What about offensive and defensive plays or mindsets?
c.       You started the season off 1-4 then rolled off 4 straight wins to get to 5-4 on the season.  What caused the team’s turnaround back in the middle of December?
d.      Your team comes into the Grant 4 tournament red hot with those 4 straight wins but then your team splits 2 overtime games to finish 3rd in the tournament.  What happened on that late December day as your team looked prepared to maybe capture a Grant 4 title?
II.                  Last Game(s)
a.       Other than a victory over Liberty Christian on January 6th, your team has yet to earn a conference win or defeated a county team in 2012.  What has caused the slow start in 2012 for the team?
b.      You suffered your first conference loss (outside of the Grant 4 loss to Mississinewa) this past Saturday to Frankton by a score of 69-55.  What caused your team to have a hiccup and stop your hot conference start?
III.                Upcoming Game(s)
a.       You face an Eastbrook team that is just 1-2 in conference play and 2-8 on the season.  What’s the game plan for Friday night’s game to get a tough road win?
b.      After the Eastbrook game this Friday, your team will come back home to face Oak Hill who is right in the middle of the conference race.  The game is still just about a week away but any early comments on that match-up next Friday night?
c.       Both the boys and girls teams at Madison-Grant are in a tight CIC race, what’s the atmosphere like at games, practices, and around the community as Madison-Grant is having a pretty good year so far for the basketball programs?
d.      As the boys head coach, what does the rest of this season hold for the Argylls and then the future for this program?
IV.                Other Grant County Schools
a.       The Oak Hill Golden Eagles boys team has now won 5 in a row and has a game this Friday hosting Alexandria who is the Central Indiana Conference leader at this point.  The Argylls have yet to play either of these teams this season but what are your thoughts on this game and these teams this season?
V.                  College Basketball/NBA Questions
a.       The Indiana Hoosiers men’s team fell to 13th in the polls after 2 tough losses to Minnesota and Ohio State last week.  What’s your thoughts on this IU team and how they have brought national attention back to Bloomington?
b.      Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers in the NBA are off to a fast start with a 9-3 record….good enough for 2nd in the Central Division at this point.  Looking at the NBA as a whole, do you believe the Pacers are a contender in the Eastern conference with the likes of Chicago, Miami, and Philadelphia?
